Perform venipuncture and skin puncture in the ambulatory setting Verify patient identification and specimen labeling Register patients and enter lab orders into the lab computer system Perform routine and complex blood-drawing procedures, including venipuncture, finger and heel sticks, and blood cultures Perform point-of-care testing specimen processing and EKGs in the ambulatory setting Requirements High school diploma/GED (Required) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days through the American Heart Association (AHA) Ability to perform venipuncture and skin puncture Ability to perform finger sticks, heel sticks, and blood cultures Ability to perform point-of-care testing specimen processing and EKGs Ability to register patients and enter lab orders into a laboratory computer system Must work day shift, Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., with every fifth Saturday Core Competencies Demonstrates proficiency in performing venipuncture, skin puncture, and point-of-care testing in an ambulatory setting, while ensuring accurate patient registration and specimen processing. Holds Basic Life Support certification and is capable of executing complex blood-drawing procedures.
