You will report to the Plasma Center Manager and perform as a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations. About the Role You will determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable results. The Medical Support Specialist works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) for operational guidance and under the management of the Center Physician for medical issues. The Medical Support Specialist will be familiar with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment and will follow guidance provided by BioLife Medical Affairs and provide center-level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS). Key Responsibilities Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, education and self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis (SPE). Evaluate donor reactions as per SOPs. Follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities. Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical issues. Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees. Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation required by occupational health/ER. Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations of pandemic threats. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate degree from a recognized nursing program with state requirements. Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment: EMT-Paramedic. Current CPR and AED certification. Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy. Complete FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist. Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
