Assistant Branch Manager

Position Summary:

Responsible for assisting the Branch Manager in administering and directing sales/business development and operation of the branch office. Manages the activities which promote growth and reinforces the objectives of the branch, oversees daily banking office functions and ensures compliance with all policies, procedures and operational regulations. This position reports to the Branch Manager and has a sound working knowledge of the Branch Manager’s responsibilities in order to act as back-up during the manager’s absence. This position is also responsible for making sound and timely decisions relative to accepted standards of customer service, workflows and implementation of new procedures. 

The Assistant Branch Manager must be knowledgeable with all bank products and foster team member’s knowledge of the various products offered as well as strong knowledge of the bank’s customers. Responsible for ensuring that efficient processing, branch security, appropriate levels of risk management, all audit functions within the branch, and loss prevention are maintained. Directs day to day operational functions by providing leadership and direction to all team members.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for day-to-day management of branch operation to ensure compliance with operational and security policies. 

• Leads by example and coaches team members to focus on customer experience, by having needs-based conversations and offering financial solutions to meet the customers’ needs.

• Ensures fast, courteous and efficient customer service is maintained in banking office. Proactively reaches out to customers to deepen relationships through needs-based conversations.

• Supervises all branch operations and ensures branch has and maintains clean audits.

• Develop universal bankers and tellers staffing schedules.

• Confers and participates with Branch Manager in recruiting, interviews, training, orients, resolving personnel problems and evaluating employees in accordance with HR guidelines. 

• Opens new accounts, process general account transactions and responds to questions concerning all bank products and services.

• Interviews consumer loan applicants and provides information on consumer loan products that best meet the customer’s needs.

• Reviews internal control structure of Branch on an ongoing basis.

• Monitors equipment needs and communicates to appropriate departments.

• Promotes teamwork among staff to ensure work is performed in a collaborative manner and service standards are achieved. 

• Responsible for overseeing all audit functions within the branch; reviews reports assigned for compliance and accuracy.

• Ensures that physical maintenance and the overall appearance of the branch are maintained, and that emergency, safety and disaster preparedness and recovery procedures are enforced. 

• Keep informed of changes in banking regulations, services and procedures. 

• Refers customers to internal team of experts on commercial lending, residential mortgages, treasury management, etc.

Education and Experience:

• Teller and personal banker experience required.

• Supervisory experience required with working knowledge of a financial institution environment.

• Registered through National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) and maintain registration requirements.

• Strong interpersonal skills required to positively manage and motivate staff development to meet established goals and objectives.

• Proficient in computer skills.

• Must be self-motivated and possess the desire for self-development.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy with ability to work well under pressure.

• Ability to multitask with excellent time management skills.
