Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician

Responsibilities Work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by following all Covestro standard operating procedures. Repair and maintain process control systems, programmable logic controllers, HMI programs, laboratory instrumentation, and electrical controls. Repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as extruders, pelletizers, screeners, vacuum pumps, heat exchangers, electric motors, and compressors. Troubleshoot issues with HVAC systems, cooling towers and chillers, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Troubleshoot PLC and HMI programs; program control systems. Monitor project start‑ups and design electrical systems and instrument control loops. Evaluate instrument and electrical hardware; communicate with manufacturer’s field engineers as needed. Initiate purchase requisitions for parts and equipment; repair or replace defective parts using hand or power tools. Perform preventive maintenance on all systems and equipment; troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Perform basic pipefitting tasks; dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools and power tools. Lubricate and clean parts; coordinate and schedule projects with maintenance, production, laboratory and storeroom. Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements using rules, calipers, micrometers and other measuring instruments. Install and remove machines utilizing various rigging devices; examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections. Repair and maintain HVAC systems, cooling towers and chillers; repair barrel cooling systems (steam). Basic Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of experience in maintenance, troubleshooting of electrical, instrumentation and pneumatic control systems. Required to take WorkKeys Test and receive qualifying scores on Workplace Documents (6), Applied Math (6), Applied Technology (5) and Graphic Literacy (5). Preferred Qualifications Associates degree in Electromechanical Technology or closely related field and 2 years of experience in maintenance, troubleshooting of electrical, instrumentation and pneumatic control systems. Experience using Allen Bradley equipment. Knowledge & Skills Obtain and maintain a valid forklift license. Ability to read and understand diagrams, sketches, operation manuals. Ability to operate Windows‑based computer systems and use SAP system to perform maintenance and engineering tasks. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Benefits Starting pay between $38.37 and $40.71 per hour (paid bi‑weekly). Full‑time role that includes annual bonus potential.
