About the Position

Job Title

Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT)

Charleston, WV | Short-Term Acute Care / Level 1 Trauma Center

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 3x12 Hours (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Weekdays with some weekends required | Float position

Key Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory therapy services across Critical Care and General Care settings for adult and/or pediatric patients
• Float within scope of practice to meet facility needs as required
• Float to sister facilities as needed
• Utilize Cerner for clinical charting and documentation
• Adhere to scheduled shifts including some weekend coverage

Required Qualifications

• Active RRT or CRT credential; pending West Virginia or Compact state license accepted for submission
• Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience
• BLS certification required (American Heart Association)
• ACLS certification required (American Heart Association)
• PALS and NALS required for pediatric cases (American Heart Association)
• Candidates must have a permanent address greater than 100 miles from the facility; candidates between 75–100 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis
• Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1 – March 31); medical exemption with documented allergist or physician record accepted
• Candidates must complete a respiratory fit test using an approved mask prior to start; travel of up to 100 miles may be required to complete the fit test
• Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from their last permanent employment date before being eligible for a travel contract at this facility

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center or major teaching hospital environment
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic health records system
• Experience with both adult and pediatric respiratory patient populations
