Performs technical and clerical functions in one or more sections of the laboratory. Responsibilities:

Performs technical and clerical functions in one or more sections of the laboratory. Responsibilities:
- Assists with receiving, identifying, accessing, processing and transporting specimens, plus additional responsibilities requiring critical thinking. Handles problems, including documentation and resolution.
- Communicates test results to appropriate healthcare providers.
- Acts as mentor in specific area of expertise. Maintains equipment and adequate stock of supplies. Maintains work area in a safe, aseptic and organized manner.
- Performs duties in accordance with regulations and procedures. Contributes to new procedures.
- Performs clerical duties including answering phones, data entry, and filing. Performs charge entry and/or invoice reconciliation as applicable.
- Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
- High School diploma or GED.
- 1 year of relevant experience.
- Preferred: 1 year in healthcare environment.
