Senior Marketing Director

Lead Deer Brook's marketing engine - from brand and digital presence to pipeline-driving campaigns Deer Brook is looking for a Senior Marketing Director to build and lead our marketing function, driving brand visibility, digital presence, and measurable pipeline impact across our cybersecurity, higher education, and technology practices. You'll bring vast, diverse marketing experience to the table - managing direct reports and/or using influential leadership on others, owning everything from website and social strategy to SEO/GEO, campaigns, and sales enablement. You will collaborate daily with our team, with hybrid work opportunities available. Proximity to Charleston, SC is preferred. No salary range has been established for this position. What You'll Do Build, lead, and mentor direct report(s), setting clear goals and growing their capabilities Influence cross-functional stakeholders without relying on direct authority Set the overall marketing strategy and translate it into an actionable roadmap Act with urgency, moving quickly from strategy to execution rather than waiting for perfect conditions Partner closely with senior leadership to align marketing programs with revenue goals Build and maintain sales enablement materials, including collateral, case studies, and social media and web content Generate and prioritize marketing qualified leads (MQLs) that directly drive sales behavior Enable the sales team to support their success - don't be afraid to tell them what to do Track and report on marketing's contribution to pipeline and closed revenue Develop and implement an inbound marketing strategy to support the generation of MQLs Own the company website's strategy, content, and ongoing performance Lead social media strategy and presence across relevant platforms Drive SEO strategy to improve organic visibility and search rankings Implement GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) practices to strengthen visibility in AI-generated search results Campaign & Event Management Plan, launch, and manage integrated marketing campaigns end to end Roll up your sleeves and execute tactically when needed, not just direct from above Coordinate event strategy, trade show presence, and webinars Continuously test, measure, and optimize campaign performance Budget Management Own and manage the marketing and advertising budget Build and pitch budget proposals and spending plans to senior leadership Allocate spend across channels to maximize return on investment What You'll Bring Required Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field; Master's a plus 8+ years of progressive marketing experience, including experience managing direct reports Demonstrated, diverse experience across digital marketing, website management, social media, SEO, campaign management, and sales enablement Experience owning and pitching a marketing or advertising budget Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and act as a trusted advisor without direct authority A demonstrated self-starter who acts with urgency and is not afraid to do the hands-on work themselves Marketing Skills Deep knowledge of SEO best practices and emerging GEO (generative/AI search) strategies Strong campaign planning, execution, and analytics skills Skilled at translating marketing activity into sales-ready qualified leads that drive sales behavior Excellent written and verbal communication, comfortable presenting to executives Hands-on proficiency with website CMS platforms and social media management/scheduling tools Experience managing and pitching an advertising budget across multiple channels Preferred Experience marketing for a B2B professional services, cybersecurity, or technology firm Familiarity with Deer Brook's core markets - higher education, financial services, healthcare, or defense/government Experience with marketing automation and CRM tools Agency management experience (PR, design, or advertising agencies) Why Deer Brook How We Show Up Be There - We build trust through transparency, clear communication, and follow-through with clients and teammates.
