Summary Under the direction of the Claims Director and with limited supervision, investigates, evaluates, negotiates, and resolves litigated and non-litigated bodily injury, property damage, personal and advertising injury, and/or professional liability claims of high exposure and complexity. Essential Functions Pursuant to Company business strategies and good faith claims practices: Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve litigated claims of high exposure and complexity Interpret coverage to include drafting of comprehensive coverage position letters, assess comparative negligence, evaluate damages, and negotiate settlements with limited supervisor intervention Manage litigation by assigning counsel from the approved panel where applicable, establish litigation plan and budget, coordinate with defense counsel, and continuously review the potential for resolution Negotiate settlements within the authority limit granted, and attend mediations, Mandatory Settlement Conferences, and/or Alternative Dispute Resolutions Review court decisions, law, and coverage interpretations and have a broad knowledge and understanding of the law and claim practices Consult with supervisor on more complex coverage and litigated matters Establishes and maintains positive relationships with both internal and external customers while providing excellent customer service Serve as a mentor for claims associates Assist management with other tasks as needed Job Requirements, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 2 years of college and 4 years of claims handling experience, or 6 years of claims handling with litigation experience In‑depth knowledge of the insurance industry, including legal and regulatory environments Must possess strong communication and organization skills and ability to work proficiently with a personal computer Demonstrated ability to interact with people in a professional manner, determine coverage, investigate and determine liability needed Ability to travel as required to attend meetings or conferences Must possess knowledge of Property and Casualty Insurance Compensation Commensurate with experience Performance‑based incentives Benefits Package 401(k) company match up to 6% eligible upon hire Medical, dental & vision, including company paid Life insurance and long‑term disability Wellness program Health care flexible spending accounts Paid time off Paid & unpaid sick leave where applicable, as well as short‑term disability Parental & family leave; military leave & pay Employee Referral Incentive Career Development & Continuing Education Assistance Physical Conditions/Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
