About the Job The Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy-duty tractors, trailers, and fleet equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations while meeting DOT and company standards. Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on tractors, trailers, and fleet equipment. Complete and document DOT inspections, repair orders, and maintenance records accurately. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical systems on fleet equipment. Respond to breakdowns and perform after-hours or emergency repairs as needed. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Work closely with supervisors, dispatchers, and team members to support operational efficiency. Assist with inventory management of parts and maintenance supplies. Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while working in a fast-paced environment. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years of mechanical maintenance and repair experience. Valid driver's license. Ability to provide and maintain personal mechanic tools required for the position. Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks, including climbing, stooping, kneeling, and working in confined spaces. Ability to work overtime, varying shifts, and participate in on-call rotations as needed. Basic computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office applications. Preferred Qualifications Class A CDL or the ability to obtain one within the first six months of employment. Experience performing mechanical and electrical repairs on over-the-road tractors and trailers. Knowledge of DOT regulations, vehicle inspections, and preventative maintenance programs. Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively prioritize work assignments. Experience training or mentoring others. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work safely in a variety of weather conditions and industrial environments.
