We are seeking an experienced  Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Manager to lead and oversee our Clinical Documentation Integrity program. This leadership role is responsible for driving documentation excellence, ensuring regulatory compliance, and improving clinical quality, reimbursement accuracy, and organizational outcomes.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative healthcare leader with expertise in CDI, coding regulations, quality metrics, and physician engagement. You will work closely with Clinical, HIM, Coding, Revenue Cycle, and Quality teams to strengthen documentation practices while supporting organizational performance.

What You'll Do

  • Lead daily Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) operations and concurrent query processes.
  • Collaborate with physicians, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), HIM, Coding, Quality, and Revenue Cycle teams.
  • Identify documentation improvement opportunities that impact reimbursement, quality metrics, and compliance.
  • Analyze documentation trends and implement sustainable process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with ICD-10, CMS, UHDDS, and other regulatory documentation standards.
  • Improve documentation accuracy related to Severity of Illness (SOI), Risk of Mortality (ROM), medical necessity, DRGs, and quality measures.
  • Support CDI staff through coaching, training, and performance management.
  • Monitor documentation integrity related to HACs, PSIs, reimbursement, and regulatory reporting.

What Makes You a Great Fit

Candidates must meet  one of the following qualifications:

Option 1 – Nursing

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • 5+ years of clinical nursing experience.
  • 3+ years of Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) experience.
  • 2+ years of CDI leadership experience.
  • Active Nevada RN license required.

Option 2 – International Medical Graduate (MD)

  • International Medical Graduate (MD).
  • 5+ years of acute care experience.
  • 1+ year of CDI experience.
  • 2+ years of CDI leadership experience.

Option 3 – Health Information Management

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or Health Information Technology.
  • 4+ years of acute care coding or abstracting experience.
  • 2+ years of CDI leadership experience.

Required Certifications

Candidates must possess applicable certifications, including combinations of:

  • CCDS or CCDS-O
  • CDIP
  • CCS, RHIT, RHIA, CPC, or CPC-P

Preferred Experience

  • MS-DRG and APR-DRG methodologies.
  • ICD-10 coding and reimbursement regulations.
  • Quality metrics, core measures, and compliance standards.
  • Clinical data analysis and reporting.
  • Leadership experience within an acute care CDI program.
