Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) with a specialty in Oncology to join our team. This position is based in a short-term acute care facility located in Salem, OR, and is designed for a start date as soon as possible.

Shift Details

Shift Type: Day 4x12-Hour
Shift Hours: 07:00 AM - 07:30 PM
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

Patient Care

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing care to medical surgical oncology patients in a 30-bed unit. The nurse will be expected to assist patients and their families through all stages of cancer diagnosis and treatment, including end-of-life care.

Qualifications

Experience: At least 1 year of experience in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing within the last 3 years.
BLS Certification: Required, must be current and through AHA.
Oncology or Med-Surg Experience: Preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Administer chemotherapy and manage associated side effects.
Perform assessments and manage patients with dysrhythmias.
Utilize telemetry for monitoring patient conditions.
Provide comprehensive patient care, including non-invasive airway management and oxygen administration.
Maintain infection control practices and precautions.
Activate rapid response team as needed.

Work Environment

The oncology unit provides a holistic approach to patient care, integrating services from the Cancer Institute and Palliative Care team. Nurses will obtain chemotherapy/immunotherapy certification within one year of hire.

Daily Census: Approximately 32 patients

Additional Information

Candidates must have experience with computerized documentation, specifically with the Epic charting system. The position requires flexibility as clinicians may float to meet facility needs, including potential shifts at nearby healthcare facilities.
