Registered Nurse - Mother -Baby- Part Time -Third Shift

Job Description The registered professional nurse is responsible for utilizing job skills to effectively carry out the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, evaluation, documentation, and time management. The RN is responsible for quality communication, teamwork, and leadership/professionalism. The RN also directs, coordinates, and implements patient teaching, quality/safety initiatives, and the activities of other health team personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing. A Registered Nurse II (RN II) is responsible for the care of the population assigned to the unit. The RN II must complete yearly mandatory competencies, any unit‑specific competencies designated by the Director or designee, and the Professional Practice Ladder requirements, which include assuming responsibility as Charge Nurse, participating in PI activities and department initiatives, communicating and sharing information with the Director, designee, and coworkers, attending Valley Health paid education seminars or conferences, and maintaining a current portfolio submitted annually by March 1st. The RN II routinely solicits and validates patient/family satisfaction, participates in peer review for the unit, and develops bulletin board or poster materials that provide educational information to staff, patients, and family members. Department & Position Details Mother/Baby Nursing - 206091 Worker Sub Type: Regular Work Shift: Regular Education Associates Nursing (RN Diploma, ASN or ADN) is required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. Experience Advancement to this level requires a minimum of 1,872 full‑time or part‑time hours (936 if holding a BSN) of RN experience and completion of a performance evaluation. Licensure & Certification RN license required. Licensure must be valid in Virginia and/or WestVirginia under either a multistate license under the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) or a single‑state license. BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider – required for new hires before completion of orientation. Relevant specialty certification is preferred. Qualifications Meets all requirements of an RN I. Competent to provide care based on the cognitive, physical, emotional, and developmental stages of human growth. Competent to provide care using the nursing process. Must have reliable phone communication with the hospital.
