Your responsibilities will include providing court documents, reviewing, organizing and indexing discovery, preparing draft pleadings, and conducting legal research on case law. Work With Us | Maricopa County, AZ We Require Associate's degree in paralegal studies, legal assisting, or a related field OR Associate degree in any field and a certificate of completion from a Legal Assistant or Paralegal Studies program Two years of experience as a Legal Assistant, Paralegal, or performing work involving legal procedures, terminology, or administration We Also Value A bachelor's degree National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) Paralegal Certification Experience working in an indigent defense environment Job Contributions Assist attorneys with preparation for various types of legal proceedings including but not limited to creating trial notebooks, witness files, trial exhibits, charts, and indexes Produce initial drafts of pleadings, motions, briefs, memos, discover requests and responses, reports and correspondences as assigned and in accordance with court rules to ensure deadlines are met Assist attorneys in researching statures, legal cases, and other sources for legal precedents, and case applicability Review, organize, index, redact, and date stamp pertinent documents for disclosure/discovery and use in court Analyze, organize, review, and verify records and other documents obtained through the process Utilize software and case management systems for trial use Compile annotations, indexes, provisions of statutes, cases, or administrative decisions Attend legal seminars, training classes, position-oriented meetings on- and off-site.
