Human Resources Generalist

Position Summary The HR Generalist supports the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department and serves as a key point of contact for employees and managers on HR policies, procedures, and programs. This role covers a broad range of HR functions, including recruiting and onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, performance management support, compliance, and HR recordkeeping. The HR Generalist works to foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture while ensuring HR practices align with company policy and applicable employment law. Duties and Responsibilities Manage full-cycle recruiting for assigned positions, including posting jobs, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, and extending offers. Facilitate new hire onboarding and orientation to ensure a smooth transition into the company. Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollment, changes, and responding to employee questions. Maintain accurate, up-to-date employee records in the HRIS and personnel files, ensuring compliance with recordkeeping requirements. Serve as a first point of contact for employee relations matters, escalating complex issues to HR leadership as needed. Support performance management processes, including tracking review cycles and assisting managers with documentation. Assist with interpreting and consistently applying HR policies and the employee handbook. Help coordinate training and professional development initiatives. Assist with leave of absence administration (FMLA, ADA, etc.), unemployment claims, and workers' compensation reporting. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Support HR projects and initiatives such as engagement surveys, culture programs, and process improvements. Special Knowledge, skills and abilities Strong working knowledge of HR principles, practices, and employment law (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, etc.). Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport across all levels of the organization. High degree of discretion and sound judgment when handling confidential and sensitive information. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Proficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative, service-oriented approach. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a Human Resources Generalist or related HR role preferred. Liense and Certification:c PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar HR certification preferred but not required. Duties involved require moving materials that weigh up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and similar machines.
