Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Surgical/Trauma ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum Years of Experience: 1 year of charge experience preferred License: Valid state nursing license required, pending licenses accepted Certifications: BLS, ACLS required, TNCC preferred Must-Have: - Epic experience - Ability to work every other weekend - Willingness to work 2 out of 3 winter holidays - Compliance with floating policy Description: The Surgical/Trauma ICU is a fast-paced intensive care unit with surgical and trauma adult critical care patients. It consists of 15 beds in a level 1 facility. The surgical critical care team manages post-operative patients needing continuous monitoring and interventions. The trauma critical care team oversees patients with multisystem traumatic injuries from various mechanisms. Our nurses must be highly competent and skilled in assessing and managing care while demonstrating compassion. Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2, adjusting based on patient acuity. In this role, nurses will manage patients requiring advanced interventions and monitoring. Key skills include arterial line management, chest tube insertion/removal assistance, and care of ventilated patients. Additional responsibilities involve central line management, IV sedation, and interpretation of arterial blood gases. Candidates should be familiar with infection prevention protocols and managing dysrhythmias. Experience with PICC line management and procedural sedation is also valuable. The team will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary support services. Nurses will be expected to adhere to the unit's float policy as needed.
