Senior Finance and Accounting Analyst

Mirus builds business intelligence software for multi unit restaurant operators. Our clients run on a stack of disconnected systems, POS, labor, inventory, delivery, and we turn that into one clear picture they can operate against. We are hiring one person to own finance for the company. You will build the forecasting and metrics work that tells us where this business is actually going, run billing and invoicing, and own the accounting operations underneath both. You report directly to the President. No team below you and no layer above you. This is a build year, not a maintenance year. We are moving to term contracts, changing how we invoice, and we have automation sitting on the table that we have not picked up. You would own all of that. What makes this job different Most finance roles at our size are a euphemism for bookkeeping with a nicer title. This one is not, because we have deliberately kept the specialist work off your plate. We are standing up outside specialists to run our sales tax framework and to set the revenue recognition policy for our new term contract structure. That transition is underway now, and you own these areas going forward, working with the specialists rather than carrying the technical load alone. You will not be asked to invent a multistate tax position or write an accounting policy from scratch, which is the trap most people at this level get dropped into. Who this is right for You have run billing and close at a small software company. You know what a deferred revenue schedule is and you have maintained one. You have also built a financial model from a blank sheet, not just updated one you inherited. Own the invoicing process end to end. You are inheriting a rebuild in progress and you will be the one who finishes it. Make sure what we billed matches what we sold. Accuracy here is the single highest leverage thing you will do. Own AR and collections. Your instinct when you see a manual process is to ask what tool should be doing it. We run lean and we lean hard into automation. We use Ramp and we are using maybe half of what it can do. Someone who is genuinely good at systems will find a lot to work with here. You care about the business, not just the ledger. You want to know why net revenue retention moved, not only that it did. Who this is not right for If you need someone reviewing your work before it goes out, this will be uncomfortable. If you want the analysis without the operations, this is not that job, because the operations are how you earn the right to the analysis. And if implementing a system sounds like a distraction from real finance work, we are not a fit. That is the job for the first several months. What you will own Billing and invoicing Own the invoicing process end to end. You are inheriting a rebuild in progress and you will be the one who finishes it. Make sure what we billed matches what we sold. Accuracy here is the single highest leverage thing you will do. Own AR and collections. Planning and SaaS metrics Build and own the forecast. Driver based, defensible, and revised when reality disagrees with it. Own the metrics that matter for a recurring revenue business. Net revenue retention, gross and net churn, cohort behavior, bookings to revenue bridge, revenue and margin by client. Budget cycles with the President and department heads, and variance analysis with a real point of view attached. Answer the question of what a decision costs before we make it. Accounting operations Own the monthly close calendar start to finish. Bank and credit card reconciliations, payroll and commissions journal entries, depreciation and amortization, PTO and expense accruals, and revenue validation. We close in 5 working days. AP and AR day to day, running largely through Ramp. Invoice processing, deposits, payments, and collections. You own the configuration and the exceptions, not the keystrokes. Quarterly accruals and the supporting schedules that stand up to review. Payroll processing through our third party provider, plus onboarding paperwork and PTO tracking. Financial statements delivered to the President and leadership with your commentary on what moved and why. Systems and automation Get Ramp fully deployed. Approvals, receipt capture, vendor management, and a clean accounting sync. Own the accounting system of record and the integrity of what lives in it. QuickBooks today. Keep finding the manual steps and take them out. We would rather buy a tool than add a headcount. Compliance maintenance Oversee the sales tax process as it moves to our outside specialists. Registrations, filings, and keeping the software configured correctly. Early on there may still be setup to finish. Maintain revenue recognition schedules under the policy our outside CPA sets for our term contracts. What you need Four or more years across accounting and finance, including ownership of a monthly close Hands on billing or revenue operations experience. You have run invoicing, not just reviewed it A model you built yourself, that you can walk us through and defend Comfort with recurring revenue businesses. Retention, churn, and cohort thinking should not be new to you Advanced Excel Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field The ability to explain a number to someone in sales or engineering without talking down to them On the technical accounting side, our outside CPA sets and owns the revenue recognition policy, so you do not need to be an ASC 606 expert. If you have that depth, we will use it. If you do not, it will not keep you out. Helpful but not required: sales tax software such as Avalara, Ramp, NetSuite or another ERP, Power BI or Tableau, restaurant industry experience. We are not screening for a CPA. If you have one, good. If you do not, it will not count against you. That means real ownership and a very short distance between your work and a decision that gets made because of it. It also means the first few months are harder than the ones after, because implementing systems costs time before it saves any. If you take this job expecting a clean handoff, you will be disappointed. If you take it wanting something to build, you will have plenty. We would rather tell you that now than have you find it out in week three. What the first year looks like First 90 days: close is yours and runs in 5 working days. Invoicing is running under the new process and you can explain every line of it. First 6 months: Ramp is fully deployed, AP takes materially less time than it does today, and sales tax and revenue recognition have moved to our outside specialists with you overseeing them.
