Clinical Director

Clinical Director is responsible for oversight of the Outpatient Therapy Program and for general management as a member of the agency’s Executive Team. The role supports permanency-focused services by leading outpatient operations, ensuring children and resource families receive necessary clinical and related supports, and coordinating with other service providers to help maintain stable placements. The Clinical Director will also contribute to policy development and ongoing program implementation, working with leadership to ensure organizational goals are met. Key responsibilities include leading and supervising outpatient clinical staff, providing regular supervision to clinicians and clinical supervisors, evaluating clinical performance, and hiring and terminating staff in line with agency policies. The role includes assigning cases based on specialty, skill level, and client needs; participating in case consultation with clinicians and a psychiatrist; and scheduling/participating in consultations as part of care planning. The Clinical Director will ensure clinic records are accurate and current and meet regulatory and insurance requirements, develop and implement plans for clinician education and training, coordinate timely and accurate billing with the outpatient coordinator, and serve as a liaison within the service system (including liaison to the CEO and executive leadership). The Clinical Director is expected to possess strong clinical and operational knowledge, including familiarity with health insurance and managed care systems, evidence-based relational treatment approaches, and trauma-informed and infant mental health perspectives. The role requires an understanding of adoption/foster care regulations and adoption-related issues, as well as proficiency with mental health or related diagnostic concepts and the relevant county and child welfare systems. Qualifications include a master’s degree in social work or a related field and current licensure comparable to LCSW, LPC, or LMFT, along with strong counseling and organizational skills, cultural competency, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and effective writing and communication.
