This role supports patients throughout their cancer journey while also serving as a key connection between clinical teams and the authorization department. In addition to providing high-quality, patient-centered care aligned with Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) standards, this nurse supports infusion clinics and ensures timely, accurate communication regarding treatment authorizations. The role requires strong oncology-specific knowledge, adaptability to float between clinic locations, and exceptional communication skills. This nurse will travel to assigned clinics as needed and must be flexible in responding to last-minute staffing changes to ensure uninterrupted patient care. As the primary liaison to the authorization department, the RN collaborates closely to address concerns, assist with biosimilar updates, and serve as the point person for start-of-year authorization transitions. KPA 2 — Laboratory & Diagnostic Services Perform venipuncture and finger sticks; collect, label, process, and route blood, urine, and stool specimens per practice and CLIA guidelines. Process lab orders and requisitions; determine on-site vs. reference lab testing and coordinate correct specimen handling and shipment. Monitor and reconcile lab results; obtain missing reports and immediately communicate critical values to clinical staff. Maintain lab operations including supplies, quality control, proficiency testing, instrument maintenance, and basic troubleshooting. KPA 3 — Care Coordination, Documentation & Clinic Operations Support Coordinate referrals, radiology, and miscellaneous provider orders; schedule tests and procedures as directed. Prepare charts for clinic visits and verify that required reports and results are available prior to provider exam.
