Description:
The role involves working in a 22-bed unit focused on teaching new graduate nurses foundational skills during their orientation.
Nurses in this role are expected to be highly engaged preceptors.
Candidates should be willing to float to other units as needed.
Weekend work is required every other week.
Experience with accessing and managing ports, as well as BiPAP/CPAP management, is essential.
Skills needed include blood product administration and central line blood draw.
Candidates must be proficient in the care and management of colostomies and ileostomies.
Feeding tube care and management skills are necessary.
Management of insulin, isolation precautions, and oxygen administration is required.
Skills in starting and maintaining IVs, telemetry monitoring, and tracheostomy care are needed.
Wound care and management experience is preferred.
The unit houses adult and geriatric patients with a typical daily census of 20.
Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services.
