Regional Chief Engineer

Regional Chief Engineer Full Time Management Houston, TX, US General Summary A Regional Chief Engineer is the senior technical and maintenance leader responsible for multiple properties across the Housing Alliance HTX portfolio. This role will manage and lead the engineering team as well as the day-to-day operations at properties in the Houston region. Duties And Responsibilities Program / Operational Responsibilities Ensure facilities/equipment operate safely and efficiently Develop repair schedules and capital improvement plans Review energy efficiency and cost-saving initiatives Compliance & Reporting Report on operational performance to upper management Provide compliance updates to internal and external stakeholders Coordinate inspections and audits Ensure compliance with: OSHA Fire/life safety codes Environmental regulations Building and electrical codes Leadership & Supervision Supervise engineers, maintenance teams, and technicians Supervise vendors, contractors, and third-party partners Budget & Resource Management Manage regional engineering budgets and vendor contracts Emergency Response Handle emergency response and major equipment failures Supervision Received and Given Oversee engineering and maintenance operations for several locations Personal Contacts Key stakeholder groups: Residents / Clients Community partners Government and local entities Physical Demands Travel between locations On-call availability Working in mechanical rooms or industrial environments Ability to respond to emergencies after hours Typical work conditions: Lift or move up to 50 pounds Occasionally lift heavier equipment or tools Carry maintenance supplies or inspection equipment Walking large facilities or multiple properties Climbing stairs, ladders, or catwalks Standing for extended periods Moving through mechanical rooms, rooftops, and industrial areas Traveling frequently between sites Regional Chief Engineers may work around: Heat and humidity Loud mechanical equipment Dust, chemicals, or industrial fumes Outdoor weather conditions Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience High school diploma or GED Associate’s degree in preferred: Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering Facilities Management Knowledge areas relevant to the role. Technical skills and software competencies. Leadership or interpersonal skills if needed. 7–15+ years of engineering, facilities, or maintenance experience 7-10 years in a supervisory or management role Strong knowledge in the following: HVAC systems Electrical systems Plumbing systems Boilers and chillers Building automation systems (BAS/BMS) Preventive maintenance programs Mechanical troubleshooting Safety systems and fire protection Budget and cost-control experience Vendor and contractor management Staff scheduling and training Emergency response leadership Strong communication and reporting skills Certified Facility Manager (CFM) LEED certification (for energy-efficient facilities) The Housing Alliance HTX is an Equal Opportunity Employer and value diversity at all levels of our organization.
