Adjunct Faculty, Philosophy University of Denver – Denver, CO Type: Adjunct/Part-Time Faculty – Academic Year 2026‑2027 Position Summary The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences invites applications for adjunct faculty to teach up to three undergraduate level Philosophy courses during the 2026‑2027 academic year. The position is open to candidates willing to teach courses across any philosophical tradition, time period, or area of specialization. Essential Functions Teach one or more courses during a ten‑week quarter. Conduct in‑person, on‑campus courses meeting twice per week. Hold weekly office hours. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Subject matter expertise in philosophy. Knowledge of contemporary pedagogical approaches and philosophies. Ability to use Canvas learning management system. Ability to provide timely feedback to students. Commitment to engaging diverse perspectives, scholars, and resources in teaching materials and practices. Required Qualifications Completed MA prior to appointment (no exceptions). Degree may be from Philosophy or any relevant field with Philosophy training. Proven record of successful teaching experience during and/or after graduate training. Preferred Qualifications Completed Ph.D. prior to appointment. Degree may be from Philosophy or any relevant field with Philosophy training. Theoretical training that includes familiarity with a diverse range of theorists. Strong oral and written communication skills. Work Schedule Faculty schedules vary by term and are based on courses taught, service commitments, and research agendas.
