The Assistant Director supports the Director in managing and coordinating nursing services to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. This leadership role assists with planning, organizing, developing, and directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing department, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and standards of care.

Physical Requirements

Working Conditions
Works in a well-lighted and air-conditioned environment; regular exposure to contagious illnesses; occasional periods of high stress; occasional exposure to hazards such as needle sticks, electrical equipment, and other medical devices.

Resource Utilization: Consistently utilizes and maintains supplies and equipment to minimize lost charges and unnecessary equipment repair-replacement.
Confidentiality: Adheres to established policies on privacy and security requirements for compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), as applicable by Shannon Policy.

Performance: Position Specific Essential Functions
Support the Director in overseeing daily nursing operations and staff performance.
Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating nursing policies, procedures, and protocols.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and facility policies.
Participate in hiring, training, evaluating, and coaching nursing staff to maintain high standards of care and professionalism.
Help manage staffing schedules, assignments, and coverage needs.
Conduct clinical rounds to assess patient care, safety, and satisfaction.
Monitor and ensure accurate documentation of care and treatment by nursing staff.
Support infection control, quality assurance, and risk management initiatives.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support care coordination and treatment planning.
Respond to patient or family concerns with professionalism and empathy, escalating issues as appropriate.
Act as a liaison between nursing staff and administration.
Assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Director of Nursing. xxzpjkt

Qualifications
Education
Required Associate’s degree in nursing (ADN)

Preferred Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN)
Master’s degree in nursing or healthcare administration

Experience:
Required Three years of experience in clinical nursing

Preferred One or more year of leadership experience

Certification/Licensure:
Required Registered Nurse (RN), with Authorization to Practice in the State of Texas
