Nursing Assistant - Night Shift

Job Description

Under the general supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Nursing Assistant performs routine tasks in patient care, bedside nursing, and documentation of care provided. This role is pivotal in promoting patient and employee safety, ensuring adherence to safety policies and procedures, and maintaining a work environment focused on care quality.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with menu selections compliant with prescribed diets, including modifications for food allergies, sensitivities, and preferences.
• Prepare and manage patient menus, ensuring up-to-date diet orders are reflected in the menu system.
• Communicate any patient care and food service issues to the department effectively.
• Perform clerical tasks in the Food & Nutrition office, including faxing, answering phones, and maintaining organization.
• Assist trayline, food service aides, or catering as required.
• Participate in in-services and departmental meetings to enhance skills and knowledge.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of two (2) years of hospital experience, preferably in inpatient rehabilitation.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required, applicable to specific facilities.

Schedule

This position follows a Night Shift schedule, specifically a 3x12-hour shift format, allowing for consistent work hours and flexibility.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
