BMS Moving & Storage is seeking an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join our corporate accounting team in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. BMS is an established, multi-location organization specializing in household goods moving, commercial relocation, transportation, storage, and logistics services throughout the United States.

We are looking for a motivated, hands-on accounting professional who enjoys working in a dynamic business environment, takes pride in accuracy, and wants to make a meaningful contribution to a national organization's financial operations.

What You'll Do

• Prepare journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and month-end closing activities.
• Maintain general ledger accuracy across multiple locations and business entities.
• Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and management reports.
• Perform bank reconciliations, balance sheet analysis, and intercompany reconciliations.
• Analyze revenue, operating expenses, and financial performance.
• Support job-level accounting and financial reporting for our transportation, moving, storage, and logistics operations.
• Work with corporate accounting and branch management to research and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Assist with audits, internal controls, and accounting process improvements.
• Support ongoing enhancements to our accounting systems and reporting capabilities.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• 4–6+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close experience.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and accrual accounting.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with accounting software or ERP systems.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and analytical abilities.
• A self-motivated, accountable professional who works well in a team environment.

Preferred but Not Required:

• Experience in transportation, logistics, distribution, construction, or a multi-location service business.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP, MoversSuite, or comparable accounting platforms.
• Experience with intercompany accounting, job costing, or branch-level financial reporting.
• CPA certification or progress toward certification.
