Bus Driver

Qualifications:

• Valid CDL with passenger and air brake endorsement
• State of Oklahoma bus driving certificate
• Yearly physician's statement certifying fitness for duty

Job Goal: Provide safe and efficient transportation to allow students to access the district's curriculum and extra curricular programs.

Employment Terms: 172 days

Evaluation: Annually by assistant superintendent

Regular Requirements: Sit for extended periods; climb bus steps; twist at the neck and trunk; bend at the waist; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl

Occasional Requirements: Reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder and horizontally Lift/move up to 25 pounds

Visual Requirements: Close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus

Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate district busses in a safe manner, including obeying all traffic laws and observing all mandatory school bus safety regulations.
• Inspect bus for mechanical defects prior to each operation and clean bus after each operation.
• Complete all required paperwork, including preventive maintenance trip worksheets.
• Promptly report any accident and complete required paperwork.
• Follow assigned schedule and routes. Only transport authorized students.
• Notify supervisor in the event of mechanical failure, late arrival or other difficulties.
• Maintain order and discipline on busses (based on school policy) and promptly report any disciplinary problems to the transportation director.
• Exercise professionalism during school trips.
• Comply with all federal, state and local laws and board policies and procedures.
• Utilize professional behavior in all school related interactions.
• Perform all other tasks as requested by supervisor.
