Registered Nurse (RN) - Cath Lab

As a Registered Nurse in the Cath Lab, you prepare patients for catheterization and interventional procedures, monitor vital signs and hemodynamics, and assist physicians during interventions. You work as part of an invasive procedure team in a hospital setting, coordinating peri-procedural care and post-procedure recovery.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for interventional procedures, verify consent, labs, and imaging orders
• Assist with catheterization, stent placement, balloon angioplasty, and device deployment
• Monitor hemodynamics and telemetry, manage sterile field, and ensure equipment readiness
• Administer moderate sedation and monitor patient response in collaboration with the procedural team
• Document procedure notes, medications given, and post-procedure instructions in the EHR
• Collaborate with cardiology, radiology technologists, anesthesia, and nursing staff
• Provide post-procedure education and participate in discharge planning as appropriate

Qualifications

Education: BSN preferred; ADN or nursing diploma with relevant peri-procedural experience may be considered

Licensure: Current, active Registered Nurse license in the United States

Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Experience or Skills: Experience in a hospital cath lab or interventional suite; strong telemetry interpretation; proficiency with sterile technique and procedural equipment; ability to work in a fast-paced, team-based environment

Experience

• Recent clinical experience in the cath lab, interventional cardiology, or similar peri-procedural setting
• Experience with cardiovascular monitoring, arterial/venous access, and post-procedural care
• Experience collaborating with cardiology physicians, technologists, and nursing teams
• Documented ability to manage multiple patients and priorities in a procedural environment

Preferred

• Additional interventional nursing certifications or cardiovascular specialization
• Experience with EP or interventional device workflows
• Familiarity with EPIC or other major EHR systems

Work Environment

Work is performed in the hospital Cath Lab alongside physicians, technologists, and anesthesia in a fast-paced, procedure-focused unit. Shift patterns may include days, evenings, and on-call coverage; strict adherence to sterile technique and radiation safety protocols is required. Documentation occurs in the electronic health record, with collaboration across multiple disciplines to ensure patient safety and efficient turnover.
