Machinist

Job Overview American Fabrication, an employee‑owned company, is recruiting a Machinist. Standard shifts run Monday through Thursday. Compensation is based on experience and qualifications. Responsibilities Operate manual equipment, CNC mills, and lathes. Design, build, and set up tooling and fixtures for machining operations. Write and edit CNC programs using SolidWorks, CAD, and Fusion 360. Program and operate HAAS machines with 4‑5 axes, setting G‑codes and machine speeds and feed rates. Must be able to fabricate parts with close tolerances according to DOE and naval specifications. Estimate, quote, and schedule production and prototype work. Machine, assemble, test prototype devices, equipment, and tooling per verbal or written specifications. Collaborate with customers’ engineers, technicians, and the account team. Qualifications Valid driver’s license. Drug‑screening clearance. Proficiency with G‑codes, HAAS 4‑5 axis machines. Experience using SolidWorks, CAD, and Fusion 360. Ability to interpret drawings, solid models, sketches, and mandatorily perform calculations including trigonometry. Demonstrate aptitude through skills testing. Self‑directed, requires little supervision. Preferred: Government contract machining experience.
