No weekends, no on call. Our hours are Monday through Friday 9-4. Role Description The Veterinarian is responsible for providing comprehensive medical, surgical, and preventive care to small animals. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing physical examinations, diagnosing and treating illnesses and injuries, recommending and administering vaccinations, and developing individualized treatment plans. The Veterinarian will perform routine surgeries and oversee pain management and post-operative care. The role includes interpreting diagnostic tests such as bloodwork, radiographs, and other laboratory results, as well as maintaining accurate medical records. The Veterinarian will communicate clearly with clients about diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive care, and will collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff to ensure efficient, compassionate patient care. Qualifications Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) from an accredited institution and eligibility for veterinary licensure in Maine. Clinical skills in small animal medicine, including physical examination, diagnosis, treatment planning, and routine surgical procedures. Proficiency with diagnostic tools and techniques, such as laboratory testing, imaging interpretation, and anesthetic monitoring. Strong communication and client education skills, with the ability to explain medical concepts clearly and empathetically. Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment, collaborating with veterinary technicians and support staff. Commitment to high standards of patient care, medical ethics, and fear-free or low-stress handling practices. Strong organizational and time-management abilities to manage multiple cases and maintain accurate medical records.
