Charge Nurse Supervisor Med Surg ER

Job Summary:
The Supervisor/Charge Nurse for Med Surg and ER is responsible for overseeing nursing staff and operations during night shifts, providing hands-on nursing care in Medical-Surgical and Emergency Room settings. This role requires strong clinical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to manage patient care and staff efficiently during 12-hour night shifts. The supervisor collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care and compliance with hospital policies. Responsibilities:
- Supervise and provide leadership to nursing staff on Medical-Surgical and Emergency Room units during night shifts.
- Deliver direct patient care as needed in Med Surg and ER settings.
- Coordinate patient flow and manage staffing assignments to ensure optimal coverage.
- Ensure adherence to clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Provide guidance, support, and education to nursing staff.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting of patient care and unit activities.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and staff evaluations.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification.
- Minimum of 6 years nursing experience, including clinical expertise in Medical-Surgical and Emergency Room settings.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of employment.
- Education or training in Obstetrics/Newborn Stabilization.
- Experience working night shifts in hospital environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Position requires working 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
- Role demands flexibility to provide both supervisory and direct patient care duties.
- Must be able to perform in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment such as Med Surg and ER.
- 36 hours per week, scheduled as 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM).
