Operation Breakthrough strives to support and empower the children's families through advocacy, referral services and emergency aid.Job SummaryServe as a Payroll and General Ledger Accountant in the Finance Department working with the Controller to ensure all financial obligations are met in a timely manner.QualificationsBachelor in Accounting from accredited institutionMinimum of 3 years of experience in an accounting office with progressive responsibilitiesAbility to process payroll (ADP payroll experience preferred)Understanding of accounting principlesUnderstanding of General Ledger AccountingEssential FunctionsMonitor incoming bank ACHs and create journal entries for reviewMaintain payroll system. This position will be responsible for the bi-weekly processing of payroll for approximately 200 employees, and the preparation of the payroll journal entryPost journal entries prepared by Controller; create and post journal entries that are recurring.Assist with the billing, invoicing, and collections process for grants as directed by the controllerReconcile payroll benefit accounts to vendor invoicesPerform ad hoc reporting from the ERP system as requested by the Controller and CFOAssist with compilation of information for audit requestsProvides coverage in the absence of the AP/AR AccountantResponsible for special assignments when requestedOther Duties as assignedCompetenciesTechnical Skills: Knowledgeable in all phases of accounting including understanding the payables and receivables lifecycle, cash flow concepts, payroll reporting, and basic financial statement report.Technology Skills: Proficient computer skills including having a good command of the Microsoft suite of software (especially Excel) as well as being able to learn our ERP system (MIP) and asset/depreciation system (Asset Keeper).Interpersonal Skills: Interact respectfully with others.
