We assist our clients to be productive citizens by providing a living and work environment where they feel challenged, respected, and accountable as they strive to meet the demands of life.Our mission is to create limitless pathways for people to belong where they live, work, learn, and play.Responsibilities & DutiesPerform and oversee monthly bank and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completenessManage general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, account analysis, and month-end close processesOversee full-cycle accounts payable, including invoice processing, vendor management, payment scheduling, and reconciliation of company credit cardsManage SSVF grant accounts receivable, including tracking eligible expenses, calculating drawdown amounts, and preparing and submitting related invoices, and performing bank runs for depositsSupport grant accounting, including tracking restricted funds and preparing financial reports for fundersEnsure compliance with grant terms, conditions, and reporting requirements; monitor grant activities to ensure adherence to funding restrictions and guidelinesAssist with preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards (GAAP)Assist with preparing monthly variance financial reports and analyzing budget-to-actual resultsRecord and reconcile payroll entries, including preparation of payroll journal entries and related cash funding entries in coordination with HR or payroll providersMaintain and utilize Sage accounting system for accurate financial recordkeeping, reporting, and analysisProvide technical accounting support and guidance to accounting team members as neededMaintain internal controls and assist in process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracySupport annual audits and preparation of schedules and documentation for external auditorsEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local nonprofit financial regulationsPerform all other job duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in accounting or finance3–5+ years of progressive accounting experienceDeep understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable regulationsStrong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups) and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, NetSuite)High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and strong analytical problem-solving skillsAptitude for confidentiality, organizational skills and good interpersonal skills.Position RequirementsAptitude for numbers and quantitative skills.Ability to manage month-end close, budgeting/forecasting, tax reporting, and ensuring internal control compliance.Experience with nonprofit accounting is preferred, including grant accounting, audit experience and Form 990 preparation.Special aptitude for accuracy, confidentiality, organizational skills, and good interpersonal skills.CPA (or CPA candidate) preferredSage Intacct accounting system experience preferredSuccessful completion of pre-employment drug screen and background check.Work RequirementsThe Senior Accountant must have the ability to learn the policies, procedures, activities and programs of the Accounting Department quickly and accurately.
