Apprentice Medical Assistant (CCMA Eligible)

Join a dynamic Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program sponsored by the Washington Association for Community Health, designed to help you become a certified Medical Assistant (MA) in just over a year. This paid apprenticeship combines hands-on training, clinical experience, mentoring, and classroom/online education similar to what you'd find at a community or technical college. Upon successful completion, you'll be eligible to take the CCMA MA-C exam, equipped with the tools and resources to succeed.

Job Summary

As a vital member of the frontline care team, Medical Assistants provide essential support to ensure excellent patient care. Responsibilities include preparing patients for exams, measuring vital signs, offering administrative assistance, and collaborating closely with doctors, nurses, and fellow MAs within the scope of practice.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with patient preparation and vital sign measurement.
• Support providers by accurately carrying out orders and facilitating smooth patient flow.
• Help with treatments and procedures within MA scope, ensuring proper consent and documentation.
• Administer immunizations under supervision and in accordance with regulations.
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records.
• Coordinate referrals and ensure timely processing of consults, exams, and diagnostics.
• Perform daily room checks, stock supplies, manage sample medications, and uphold infection control standards.
• Collaborate with environmental services to maintain a clean and safe clinical environment.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be at least 18 years old before starting the program.

Licenses and Certifications

• Current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.

Skills and Abilities

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including proficiency in English.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.

Physical Requirements

Includes frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, and occasional lifting or carrying of items up to 35 lbs. Vision, hearing, and speech within normal range with or without corrective devices.

Work Environment and Schedule

This is a full-time position with 10-hour shifts totaling 40 hours per week. The role is based in a healthcare facility located in the Pacific Northwest region.
