Medical Laboratory Scientist/ Medical Laboratory Technician - Core Lab

Shift Hours Day Shift: 7 on, 7 off (7 a.m. – 7 p.m.) Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education Bachelor's Degree in medical technology, medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical or biological science. Copy of transcript required. Work Experience None. Certifications Current state license (if applicable). ASCP, AMT or AAB generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist, or ASCP categorical or AAB individual discipline certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist (only if working in an Academic Medical Center). ASCP certified on or after January 1, 2004 must complete the Certification Maintenance Program. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and patient information retrieval; proficiency with Windows applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly to all levels of the patient care process. Good analytical and problem‑solving skills. Judgment in performing duties and resolving conflicts. Good interpersonal skills. Job Duties Perform, develop, and interpret routine and specialized laboratory testing independently and without error within established time frames. Analyze and record quality control and instrument maintenance/troubleshooting; make judgments on results and take appropriate action, escalating when results are out of control and documenting corrective action. Adhere to regulatory compliance guidelines and maintain awareness of accreditation standards by reviewing current checklists and standards. Follow safety guidelines, OIG compliance requirements, and protocols for proficiency testing of samples. Participate in performance‑improvement opportunities, assist in data collection and analysis, and support business development and cost‑reduction initiatives by managing supply and reagent inventory. Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including respecting privacy, introducing oneself, explaining services, obtaining permissions, and adjusting communication style. Perform related duties as required. Physical and Environmental Demands Physical demands include occasional lifting of 50–100 pounds, frequent lifting of 25–50 pounds, and constant lifting of 10–20 pounds. Must be able to stoop, bend, reach, and grab with arms and hands; stand and sit for prolonged periods; and travel between facilities. Must work flexible schedule (24/7, weekend, holiday, on‑call).
