About the Position

Job Title: Clienttion Therapist Profession: Clinical-Allied Specialty: - Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Monday to Friday Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum one year relevant radiation therapy experience required. Experience may include internships as part of the clinical education program. License: South Carolina Clienttion Quality Standard Association (SCRQSA) Clienttion Therapist Certifications: ARRT Clienttion Therapy (T) certification, BLS through the American Heart Association Must-Have: Knowledge of radiation therapy theories, practices and procedures. Description: Under the direction of a Clienttion Oncologist, performs radiation therapy procedures including assisting in examinations and operation of therapeutic equipment. Delivers prescribed doses of external beam and radioactive elements. Duties occur in all areas of the radiation oncology department including simulator, dark room, treatment and exam rooms. May be required to go to the operating room or nursing unit to perform radioactive implants. Frequent standing and walking is required. Intermittent lifting, moving, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs is necessary. Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity is essential. Constant reaching with hands/arms is expected. Frequent talking or hearing is a part of the role. Corrected hearing and vision to normal range is required. Exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue is possible. Possible exposure to infectious materials, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, communicable diseases, and other conditions common to a healthcare environment may occur. Frequent exposure to the risk of radiation is inherent. Intermittent exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals may happen. Intermittent exposure to the risk of blood-borne pathogens is possible. The work area may have a quiet to moderate noise level. Requires the ability to work under stressful conditions, deadlines, or irregular hours. May be required to work weekends or holidays based on the needs of the department. Delivers accurately prescribed courses of radiation therapy. Performs patient set-up accurately and carefully delivers correct doses per radiation oncologist orders. Conducts clinical simulations on treatment machines and on CT simulators as per radiation oncologist orders. Fabrics custom blocks or other patient immobilization devices accurately. Maintains accurate electronic medical records of daily treatments including dose totals of treatments and records when treatment aids are used. Explains radiation therapy procedures appropriately and adequately to patients, answering questions fully. Uses patient immobilization devices knowledgeably and makes treatments as comfortable as possible using various aids. Notifies physician and/or nurse of any treatment complications. Performs other job duties and responsibilities as required. Will have constant interaction with oncology patients and their families. Will interact daily with Clienttion Oncologists, Clienttion Therapists, Physicists, and other departmental employees. Also interacts daily with nursing staff in other departments. May occasionally interact with outside vendors and the general public. Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Must maintain strict confidentiality regarding work-related information. Professional and neat appearance is required. Ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions and be self-directed while working independently is essential.
