Role Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to architect a reporting and application back-end that bridges our central Data Warehouse and a local Power Platform solution. You will deconstruct data warehouse views into a dimensional model, implementing a dual-storage strategy across an Oracle Database (for high-volume processing) and Microsoft Dataverse (for application logic and UI).
Key Responsibilities:
- Hybrid Data Modeling: Design a Star Schema where large-scale Fact data resides in Oracle, while core descriptive Dimensions are synchronized with Dataverse tables.
- Power Platform Integration: Configure and optimize Power Platform Request Limits and On-premises Data Gateways to ensure seamless connectivity between Oracle and Power Apps.
- Virtual Tables & Sync: Implement Dataverse Virtual Tables to surface Oracle data in real-time within Power Apps without duplicating storage, or design sync pipelines for physical data movement.
- ETL/ELT Architecture: Build pipelines (using dbt, ODI, or Power Platform Dataflows) that map warehouse view fields to both Oracle tables and Dataverse entities.
- Security & Environment Management: Ensure data security consistency between Oracle roles and Dataverse Security Roles/Business Units.
Required Qualifications:
- Advanced SQL & Oracle: Mastery of Oracle PL/SQL and performance tuning for "Direct Query" scenarios.
- Dataverse Expertise: Deep understanding of Dataverse table structures, relationships (1:N, N:N), and Choice columns.
- Integration Tools: Experience with Power Query (Dataflows) or Azure Data Factory to move data between Oracle and the Power Platform.
- Dimensional Modeling: Expert-level knowledge of Kimball methodology (Fact/Dim mapping).
Preferred Skills:
- Experience using the Power Platform Oracle Connector and managing Gateway clusters.
- Knowledge of Power BI integration for reporting on the new dimensional model.
- Certification in PL-200 (Power Platform Functional Consultant) or DP-203 (Azure Data Engineer) .
