As a Truck/Railcar Loader, the employee is responsible for moving shipments of product from within the warehouse to the loading station and load/unload trucks and/or railcars without damaging the product.


Essential Functions

• Clean and maintain machinery, equipment, and work areas to ensure proper functioning and safe working conditions
• Understand all company procedures, policies, and practices that is relevant to job position
• Must comply with all safety and OSHA regulations, including lock-out/tag-out procedures within the department
• Licensed to operate a forklift in a safe manner
• Visually inspect loads for good appearance, panel count, proper barcode tags, and correct strapping
• Safely and efficiently transports units from warehouse to truck and/or railcar
• Efficiently load trucks and railcars correctly according to the products on the order without damaging the product
• Check half units for correct pieces according to thickness
• Identify TECO trademark stamps and ensure that panels are properly marked with correct grade and thickness
• Place loads on trailers in configuration requested by the driver
• Review outgoing order to ensure they contain the correct freight
• Locate product in the warehouse that is to be loaded
• Accurately count dunnage and accurately document on the daily report
• Handle veneer and plywood panels in a manner to minimize damage to units
• Accurately and legibly records and completes documentation for quality and production reports
• Demonstrate a sense of urgency when dealing with line stops or abnormal plant conditions
• Immediately communicate all quality issues to the Supervisor and Sander/Saw Operator
• Communicate all processing, quality, and safety issues to the Supervisor
• Employees must also perform any duty deemed necessary by management

Truck/Railcar Loaders who can perform these duties safely and effectively allows for the mill to run smoothly. It is imperative that each employee does his or her job to the utmost of their ability.

• Able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials
• Able to work safely around moving mechanical equipment and nip points
• Maintain a high level of cleanliness in work areas
• Maintain adherence to all Company policies and safety standards
• Must be able to lift, lower, or carry up to 50 pounds frequently
• Must be able to push and pull up to 80 pounds occasionally
• Must be able to sit, stand, or walk constantly for up to 10 hours a shift
• Able to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems
• Able to monitor and review information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems
• Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibrations in which certain PPE is required
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
• Capable of working in hot and/or cold environments.
• Able to work beyond or less than normally scheduled work hours.
• Subject to mandatory testing for drugs and/or alcohol on a random, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, return-to-duty, and follow-up basis.
• Responsible for wearing the required PPE for each job tasks as specified.
• Responsible for conducting a pre-shift inspection on forklifts, when in operation, prior to the start of the shift or operation of forklift.
