Registered Respiratory Therapist

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist to perform essential respiratory care services. The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently while also supervising others, as needed. You will provide comprehensive respiratory care for adult and geriatric patients suffering from respiratory diseases, in accordance with physician orders and department protocols.

Education and Work Experience

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program: Required

Licenses/Certifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-RRT) credential or Certified Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-CRT) credential: Preferred
• Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license: Required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor: Required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from an approved vendor: Required at the time of hire or within 90 days
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from an approved vendor: Required at the time of hire or within 90 days
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from an approved vendor: Required at the time of hire or within 90 days

Essential Functions

• Assess and document the appropriateness of prescribed therapy for patients receiving respiratory care services.
• Administer aerosol and oxygen therapy while maintaining patient charts.
• Draw arterial blood gases per policy and physician orders.
• Provide care to patients on ventilators and ensure proper monitoring.
• Assists in maintaining departmental records and operational functions, including training and supervising new employees.
• Document care provided, maintain records of treatment, and generate necessary documents for billing.
• Instruct nursing personnel in patient and equipment surveillance following initial installation.
• Perform drainage procedures and provide additional patient care related to cardiopulmonary diseases.
• Offer clinical suggestions regarding patients' treatment plans and pulmonary progress.
