Production Planner/Scheduler

Job Purpose The Production Planner is responsible for production planning and coordinating production workflow for multiple products while prioritizing operations to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay. The role takes a lead in continuous improvement, product flow and capacity improvement to enhance overall manufacturing efficiency. Nature of Duties / Responsibilities Analyzes customer demand and optimizes build plans for specific products, balancing material availability, resource constraints and capacity. Establishes and maintains planning attributes for new products and parts within the ERP system to ensure accurate setups. Audits BOMs to ensure structural integrity and alignment with manufacturing and costing strategy. Reviews critical ERP planning attributes such as lead times and safety stock to sustain system accuracy and plan stability. Manages ECOs and implements changes across the supply chain and production floor. Releases required work orders in a timely manner and closes them upon completion after reconciling variances. Monitors material shortages and production flow to keep build plans on schedule. Plans and directs Production and Inventory Control for operations to meet customer commitments and inventory objectives. Coordinates the operations planning process to ensure material and capacity availability supports customer commitments and forecast demands. Leads the inventory team in maintaining robust cycle‑counting programs and process controls for perpetual inventory accuracy. Collaborates with the production team to execute the schedule and achieve on‑time deliveries. Works directly with Purchasing to ensure material availability. Serves as the SME for the ERP system, providing on‑site technical support, writing ad‑hoc reports, and staying current on system capabilities. Identifies and drives software procedural improvements to the operations process to eliminate waste. Relays relevant information to management regarding material shortages, potential schedule interruptions, and possible equipment maintenance that could affect production. Analyzes customer demand information, forecast, orders, labor and material availability to develop a flexible yet efficient master schedule. Reviews part availability, including quality approval, prior to scheduling. Manages the issuance of purchase orders as recommended by the planning system or as directed by management. Manages the PO approval process, revisions, supplier confirmation and storage of all purchase orders on a secured shared site. Manages the supplier bidding process, including RFQ submission and summary of returned information as requested by the Director of Manufacturing. Controls supplier compliance to on‑time delivery, terms, conditions, supply contracts and product specifications. Participates in product specification creation/revision and facilitates execution with suppliers. Drives sourcing solutions for existing products as directed by executive management. Manages assigned products to maintain or reduce costs of components, packaging and finished goods. Education and Experience 3 years of related materials planner experience; preferably in a contract manufacturing environment. Bachelor’s degree in Business or Industrial Engineering preferred. Preference for candidates from heavy industrial, power electronics or complex electromechanical manufacturing environments. Good understanding of critical ERP planning attributes. Hands‑on experience in ECO planning and implementations. Good working knowledge of Oracle or similar ERP software for planning. Advanced level proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
