Provide work direction and training over lower-level cooks in the preparation and cooking of foods. Monitor food lines, loading of carts, storage of foods, and general cleaning. Operate commercial kitchen equipment to cook foods. Mix salads, make desserts, dressings, and breads. Prepare hot and cold beverages and special menu foods. Slice meat and cheese, make sandwiches, assemble fruit plates and relish trays. Clean and cut vegetables and meats before cooking and mixing. Clean work area, equipment, and utensils. Exposed to varying temperatures, such as freezers and hot ovens. Work early or rotating shifts and/or weekends. May be exposed to hostile consumers, residents, or youth, and/or infectious diseases.
