Field Services Technician I

Meter ReaderResponsible for providing entry level reading and evaluation of customers' water and electricity use for the City of Garland.Pay Range: Starting at $15 (Depending on qualifications and experience)Work Schedule: (100% Onsite) Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pmEssential Duties and Responsibilities Include the Following. Other Duties May Be Assigned.Utilize various methods to accurately/efficiently record electric and water meters readings daily.Operate vehicles to travel to and from assigned meter reading routes.Maintain accurate records of readings and other data collected.Operate computers for drive by meter data collection.Communicate all repairs, leaks, service problems and/or general information to office dispatchers, as needed.Assist with the installation/repair of radio meters.Assist with field service orders.May train new hires on meter reading and equipment usage.Other duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsHigh School diploma or GEDNo experience necessary (On the job training)Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.Preferred QualificationsEducation/ Experience1 year experience in public utilitiesExperience with reading software, mobile units and handheldsKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesBasic knowledge of electric/water meter(s) readingBasic knowledge of city street and address systemsBasic knowledge of public contact techniques and principlesAbility to provide excellent customer serviceAbility to work multiple assignmentsAbility to work independently and meet deadlinesAbility to work in a team environmentLicenses and CertificationsValid Class C Texas driver's licensePhysical Requirements / Work EnvironmentThe work environment and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
