Must-Have: Level 1 trauma experience

Description: Must have Level 1 trauma experience. Candidates must live within a 50-mile radius. Must be willing to undergo a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance, with two attempts allowed. Travel teams must have their own vehicles. Natural hair color is required, and no facial piercings are permitted. Men must be clean-shaven for fit tests. Pass/fail exam conducted on the first day of orientation. All registered nurses are expected to complete skills lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes. Compliance with maintaining a sterile field is critical. Nurses demonstrating incompetence in these areas may not be a good fit. In addition to skills lab, there will be educational sessions on lifts, restraints, and wound care. Common patient types include post-operative transplant patients, spine procedures, orthopedic joint procedures, and trauma cases. Unit has a ratio of 1:4-5. Electronic medical records are utilized. There are dedicated Charge RNs who do not take patients. Nurse aides are available for support on specific shifts. Weekend requirements include three shifts in a four-week period. Holidays are based on unit coverage. Scrub color is navy. The environment operates with 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy support. Shifts are 12 hours long and may require floating to various units. Cancellation policy allows for the hospital to cancel up to four shifts per 13-week assignment. Charting system used is electronic.
