Shop Supervisor

Shop Supervisor Job Summary Under general direction, this entry‑level people management position assists in the day‑to‑day planning and organization of a shop team at a facility. The incumbent supports facility audits, inventory, budgets and goal attainment, and performs personnel management tasks such as staffing, performance management, annual reviews, and time and attendance. Key Responsibilities Solicit, assign, and monitor onsite vendors to ensure proper repairs and cost control. Monitor shop expenses to maintain the budget and identify opportunities for cost efficiency. Maintain the company's safety culture by promoting a safe work environment in compliance with federal and state regulations, conducting safety meetings and mock OSHA inspections, and modeling safe work habits. Inspect completed repairs to ensure equipment meets DOT and company standards. Perform personnel management tasks including staffing, performance management, annual reviews, and time and attendance. Monitor work in progress on the floor to ensure it is performed safely, correctly, and within standard repair times. Perform daily operational tasks as needed, including estimates, “down unit” reporting, yard checks, etc. Ensure the team reaches and maintains goals set by leadership; train staff on service bulletins, OSHA compliance, and company policies and procedures. Schedule inbound equipment and maintain estimated run time so that repairs are assigned in order of priority; update equipment status continually to maximize utilization. Monitor that all required repair campaigns are completed and warranty procedures are followed. Other duties as assigned. Ensure shift starts on schedule and assign work orders to technicians to maintain an orderly and efficient workflow that meets internal customer deadlines; manage cost per hour. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED equivalent. 1–2 years of related experience, including 1–2 years of direct or indirect management experience. Preferred Qualifications Professional appearance and conduct. Effective communication skills through various mediums. Ability to capture and document relevant business information in an auditable, organized, and easily retrievable manner. Strong analytical skills and the ability to reach productive decisions based on informed judgment. Physical capability to lift/move an appliance up to 50 pounds. Ability to form and manage effective teams. Willingness to wear appropriate work attire and protective gear/PPE. Capacity to work both individually and as part of a team. Adaptability to a fast‑paced environment. Ability to work with minimal direction. Compensation Expected starting pay range: $82,700 – $124,100. Payment may be affected by skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications. Eligibility for annual bonus and incentives may be available based on profitability or volume, in accordance with the Company’s plans.
