Founded in 1898, Burns & McDonnell is a 100% employee-owned firm.The candidate will be responsible for understanding, applying, designing, and constructing conventional and advanced water treatment technologies for both municipal and industrial clients. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for process piping design, pump station design, hydraulic profile development, process equipment selection, specification and drawing development, and construction administration for drinking water projects. Additional duties include identifying and obtaining projects, contributing to the technical growth of the group, staff mentoring, inter-discipline coordination, developing budgets and schedules, client development, and client maintenance.Executes complex assignments requiring the use of advanced techniques, resulting in the development of new or improved processes, equipment and/or technological methods. May develop and evaluate plans for major projects. May assess feasibility or soundness of proposed applications when data is insufficient or testing is advisable. Other duties as assigned.Perform civil design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.Modify and review production drawings for various water/wastewater projects.Design civil components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers.Applies strong knowledge of commonly used civil engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the civil engineering services industry.Research and compile project-related data as required by the project managers. Compiles studies and reports. Writes specifications.Update drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD-related software.Compiles information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for the design of power, process, pipeline, industrial, healthcare, airports, educational institutions, commercial, governmental and military facilities.Performs field inspections, measurements or calculations for public and private clients.All other duties as assigned.QualificationsBachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program.Or Bachelor of Science in Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering may be substituted for 1-year experience.Three (3) years of civil engineering experience, consulting preferred.Successful completion (i.e.passing) FE or EIT preferred.Strong knowledge in standard civil engineering techniques and procedures.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)Strong computer skills (e.g. AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, PLS, PLS-CADD, RISA-3D, MathCADD), and/or hydraulic, hydrologic, pavement, civil analysis programs.Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and probCompensation$105,000.00-145,000.00 YearlyThe expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location.
