Our client is a publicly traded, vertically integrated manufacturer of power distribution products, with capabilities spanning custom fabrication through final turnkey deployment worldwide.

As the company enters its next phase of growth, this is an opportunity to build and shape a brand that reflects the scale and momentum of the business. The VP, Branding will have significant ownership to build the function, define the company’s market presence, and partner directly with senior leadership to turn a strong business story into a differentiated brand. For a true builder, there is significant room to create, influence, and leave a lasting mark on the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish the brand strategy and positioning. Develop a clear framework for how the organization differentiates itself, including its messaging, visual identity, tone, and overall market positioning.
  • Clarify and communicate the company narrative. Work across the organization to identify the most important stories, differentiators, and proof points and translate them into messaging that resonates with customers, employees, candidates, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead the company’s creative direction. Set the standard for how the organization is represented visually and verbally across digital platforms, presentations, events, recruiting materials, physical environments, and other external-facing channels.
  • Develop a scalable content strategy. Establish a consistent approach to storytelling across social media, digital content, video, executive communications, campaigns, and other channels.
  • Bring the organization’s people and culture forward. Identify opportunities to showcase the expertise, accomplishments, and personalities within the organization and incorporate them into the broader company narrative.
  • Strengthen talent-facing communications. Partner with leadership and the People/Recruiting functions to better articulate the employee experience, culture, and opportunity for prospective talent.
  • Serve as a strategic communications partner to leadership. Work closely with the CEO and executive team on messaging, presentations, announcements, thought leadership, and other communications that shape the company’s external profile.
  • Create structure around brand execution. Develop practical guidelines, templates, systems, and processes that allow the broader organization to maintain a consistent presence as the company grows.
  • Oversee external communications. Guide media relations, public relations, executive visibility, thought leadership, and significant corporate communications.
  • Advise on reputation and high-profile moments. Provide senior-level communications counsel during periods of significant growth, organizational change, transactions, announcements, and other situations requiring thoughtful external positioning.

Background & Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in brand, communications, marketing, or a closely related discipline
  • Track record of taking an organization’s brand from an established foundation to a more sophisticated and differentiated market position
  • Exceptional writer and storyteller with experience making complicated businesses accessible and engaging
  • Strong creative judgment across visual identity, digital presence, content, campaigns, and broader brand expression
  • Experience developing and managing an integrated communications and content strategy across multiple audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to advise CEOs and senior executives on messaging, positioning, and communications
  • Experience leading agencies, consultants, creative partners, and/or internal teams
  • Strong understanding of the relationship between brand, reputation, employee attraction, customer perception, and business growth

Preferred:

  • Background in a high-growth, start-up, or similarly complex environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Branding, or a related field

Compensation will be comprised of a competitive base salary, bonus, and equity participation

Location will be onsite at their office just south of Dayton, OH.
