Staff Electrical EngineerUnder the supervision of the Engineering Manager, the Staff Electrical Engineer develops creative and technically superior engineering solutions appropriate to each project assigned.Principal Duties & Responsibilities1. Design Solutions (25%)Executes high quality design solutions with limited or no supervisionDelivers engineering design excellenceLeads development of design conceptsDevelops detailed product documentation that supports high quality productionElectronics design expertise including but not limited to analog and digital circuit design, PCBs, microcontrollers, sensors, motors, and power suppliesAbility to perform PCB layout design or modifications for products using PCB design softwareAnalog, digital, & microcontroller design using schematic capture softwareHands-on experience with electronics development and test equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, power suppliesAbility to design, program, prototype, troubleshoot, and test small and medium sized electronics productsEmbedded language programming at prototype and proof-of-concept levelsKnowledge of RS232, SPI, I2C, USB, Bluetooth, and WiFiAbility to work with and lead a teamAbility to accurately interpret and drive implementation of changes in design based on feedback from management and/or client2. Research (20%)Leads and participates in project research and brainstorming teamsAttends and participates in meetings with clientsObjectively observes and understands user research inputsParticipates in usability tests in order to discover design requirements and validate design conceptsParticipates in observational research as needed to uncover unmet needs3. Performance Management (20%)Checks work of other engineers and designersLeads and mentors subordinate engineers and designersSupports management of scope, schedule and costAssumes the role of technical leader on assigned projects4. Quality (15%)Delivers flawless deliverables to clientPresents to internal and external audiencesManages deliverables and timing for self and for teamUnderstands and delivers products that meets Kaleidoscope's standards and when appropriate, international standards and regulations5. Business Development (10%)Leads the development of proposals and sizing's for minor projects or as part of a team on larger projects6.
