Senior Buyer

In this role, you will be responsible for the Value Stream, preparing and processing requisitions and placing purchase orders for commodities and supplies necessary for the manufacturing of our products. This role aligns with the Production Planner to ensure materials are readily available to support the production plan. The position reports to the Senior Manager, Materials & Planning, and is part of the Supply Chain team located in Indianapolis. It is an on-site role. In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To Place new purchase orders and follow up on existing purchase orders, executing tactical purchasing processes. Negotiate favorable pricing with vendors and suppliers. Establish contract terms with suppliers and drive ongoing supplier optimization to ensure organizational metrics are achieved, manage the supply base, including negotiation, supplier on-time delivery, and forecasting. Identify and facilitate continuous improvement activities. Collaborate with and support production planning and Value Stream to ensure timely delivery to our customers. The Essential Requirements Of The Job Are Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5+ years of general business experience, or Master’s degree with 3+ years of general business experience, or Doctoral degree with 0+ years of experience. Strong organizational, communication, and detailed operational process skills to keep all parties informed of attainment or missing metric targets. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, such as a high volume of suppliers (100+) and parts (average of 700 active parts), and escalating issues as needed. Proficient with any ERP, Excel, and agile in learning new software. It Would Be a Plus If You Possess Experience In The Following Areas APICS CPIM, CSCP, or CPM Certification. Experience in manufacturing, buying, or planning for instrument/accessory products.
