Senior Software Engineer

Position Overview We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and testing of software applications. The role involves creating expert design concepts, debugging, and taking ownership of application quality while mentoring junior team members. Location: Madison, WI (USA) Essential Duties Demonstrate strong working knowledge of complex programs and initiatives, using specialized techniques and processes. Troubleshoot medium‑complexity issues for major software applications; break down tasks, investigate and fix bugs, and work independently. Initiate independent designs that impact the department’s delivery and approach. Lead reviews of design alternatives, problems, and solutions, limiting the need for later problem‑solving. Contribute individual capabilities to achieve group objectives and work effectively with others in a team setting. Provide mentoring, coaching, and technical guidance for junior team members. Build internal and external partnerships with peers, SMEs, stakeholders, and decision makers. Communicate clear and concise project plans, designs, and status updates. Work nights and/or weekends as needed. Uphold company mission and values—innovation, integrity, quality, teamwork—and maintain compliance with the Quality Management System policies and procedures. Maintain regular and reliable attendance and act with an inclusion mindset. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and 4 years of experience. Complete knowledge of software development design and development, and relevant domain‑specific skills. Experience with object‑oriented programming, RESTful web services, relational databases (Postgres, SQL Server), and ORM technologies (JPA2, Hibernate, Entity Framework). Experience designing and developing applications that access or utilize cloud‑based frameworks (Azure, AWS/SDKs, etc.). Experience using Agile development tools, including JIRA and Confluence. Programming proficiency in C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, SQL, PL/SQL, .NET, or Google Web Toolkit. Currently authorized to work in the country where the role is located; no sponsorship or visa transfer is offered. Ability to perform essential duties with or without accommodation. Preferred Qualifications Java21+ with SpringBoot4+ and Angular20+ (with emphasis on using Signals). Familiarity with Micro Frontend concepts and GraphQL. Experience with CI/CD pipelines. Experience working with AWS Compute services such as ECS and Lambda. Salary Salary range: $101,000 – $172,000 (USWIMadison, full‑time). Bonus eligibility applies.
