Behavioral Health Psychotherapist Job Summary Behavioral Health Counseling to adults, children and their families at The Ohio State University Total Health Care Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center with multiple sites. Core competencies include working with the integrated team to provide individual counseling, with a focus on substance use treatment and recovery support, as part of our mission to improve the mental and emotional well‑being of the communities we serve. Responsibilities Conduct psychosocial assessments, mental health counseling, substance use dependence counseling, distress screening, and crisis intervention. Participate in interdisciplinary patient care conferences and team meetings; serve as consultant to other professionals on the healthcare team. Participate in staff meetings, in‑services, continuing education programs, research activities, CQI and performance improvement activities. Teach and mentor health professional students, regardless of discipline, on theory and practice of care delivery by an inter‑professional team. Serve as preceptor for Community Health Worker and Social Work students. Maintain strong organizational and communication skills, and commit to community‑based care. Required Education and Licensure Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited institution. Current LSW or LISW license in the State of Ohio. Must meet mandatory education and health surveillance requirements. Required Experience Minimum of 1 year experience in individual therapy and substance use treatment. Experience with Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBY, or similar approaches. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with children and adolescents in a K‑12 school setting. Experience in behavioral health treatment for children and adolescents. Other Requirements Demonstrates competence in technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills required to meet essential job functions. Demonstrates knowledge of the DSM‑5 diagnostic criteria and co‑occurring disorders. Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check; a drug screen or physical may be required during the post‑offer process.
