Job Description Summary Join a team that takes pride in caring for one of St. Louis’ most distinctive and historic hotels, located in the heart of the vibrant Central West End. Our property blends character, charm, and modern hospitality in a truly unique way. You’ll help preserve a piece of local history while working alongside a supportive, collaborative team that genuinely looks out for one another. As a General Maintenance Engineer, you’ll play a key role in keeping our historic hotel running smoothly, safely and efficiently. You’ll work hands‑on with a variety of systems, including HVAC, electrical, lighting, kitchen equipment, and more, helping ensure an exceptional experience for every guest. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their day, takes pride in solving problems, and appreciates working in a unique environment rather than a standard, cookie‑cutter property. What You’ll Do Maintenance & Operations Perform repairs and preventative maintenance across guest rooms, public spaces, and back‑of‑house areas Maintain and troubleshoot systems including HVAC, electrical, lighting, plumbing, kitchen/refrigeration equipment, and more Help ensure all equipment is ready and operational for daily use Use schematics, wiring diagrams, and manuals to complete repairs effectively Accurately complete work orders and document all work performed Safety & Standards Follow all safety guidelines, brand standards, and local regulations Identify and report unsafe conditions or malfunctioning equipment Maintain tools, supplies, and inventory with care and efficiency Guest & Team Support Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests or concerns Work closely with other departments to support overall hotel operations Contribute to a positive, respectful, team‑first environment Our Service Approach Greet guests warmly and engage with professionalism Anticipate needs and take ownership of requests Help create a welcoming, well‑maintained environment that guests remember What We’re Looking For Experience in general maintenance or a skilled trade (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc.) Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently Comfortable using tools, equipment, and basic computer systems A team‑oriented mindset and commitment to quality work Ability to lift, move, and work in a physically active role Additional Details Must be able to stand, bend, climb, and move throughout the property Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and push/pull up to 300 lbs Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed Benefits Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance Health Savings Account with Company Match 401(k) Retirement Plan with Company Match Paid Vacation and Sick Days Sonesta Hotel Discounts Educational Assistance Paid Parental Leave Company Paid Life Insurance Company Paid Short Term and Long Term Disability Insurance Various Employee Perks and Discounts Hospital Indemnity Critical Illness Insurance Accident Insurance Equal Opportunity Employer Sonesta is an equal opportunity employer.
