eClinicalWorks (eCW) Trainer - Scottsdale, AZ - Hybrid EMR Training Role with Statewide Arizona Travel

If you know eClinicalWorks well enough to teach it — and you would rather spend your week in front of new hires and in clinics than buried in a ticket queue — this role was built for you. We are hiring an experienced eCW Trainer to lead new-hire EMR education, provider go-live support, and workflow coaching across our outpatient clinics throughout Arizona.

Overview & Highlights:

• Location: Scottsdale, AZ corporate training office, supporting outpatient clinics across Arizona
• Schedule: Monday–Friday. Monday & Tuesday are in-office new-hire training; Wednesday–Friday are on-site at clinic locations
• Compensation: $80,000–$90,000 annually, depending on experience

• Work Setting: Multi-site outpatient clinic group — front office, back office, clinical teams, billing, and providers
• Remote / Hybrid / On-Site: Hybrid — office-based classroom training plus regular statewide clinic travel

Location & Logistics:

• Work Environment: Two structured training days each week in a Scottsdale office classroom setting, then three days of hands-on, at-the-elbow support inside live clinics
• Department or Team: Training & Development, partnering daily with IT, clinic operations, clinical staff, and leadership
• Patient-Facing Responsibilities: None directly — you train the staff and providers who deliver patient care, and you work inside active clinics while they are seeing patients
• Systems / EMR / Software: eClinicalWorks (eCW), the eCW support ticket system, eCW ePrescribe and EPCS licensing workflows, and Microsoft Teams for remote sessions
• Travel: Yes — regular travel throughout Arizona, including the Phoenix metropolitan area, Prescott, Tucson, Sierra Vista, and other clinic sites as needed. Required business travel costs are covered.
• Reporting Structure: Training & Development leadership; specific reporting lines are reviewed during the interview process

About the Opportunity / A Day in the Life:

Your week has a rhythm. Monday and Tuesday you are in the office running new-hire training — walking front office staff, back office staff, and clinical teams through the eCW workflows they will use on day one, then checking that they can actually do the work rather than just watch you do it. You build the agenda, keep the checklists current, and adjust your pace for a room that may hold both a first-week hire and a fifteen-year veteran switching systems.

Wednesday through Friday you are on the road. You travel to clinics across Arizona to support provider go-lives, deliver refresher sessions, and sit beside users during live patient flow. This is where the training gets tested: a provider who needs a faster documentation path, a front desk team whose check-in steps are costing them minutes per patient, a billing workflow that is generating avoidable rework. You watch the real workflow, coach in the moment, and fix what you can on the spot.

The rest of the role is the connective work between those two halves. You partner with IT to review and resolve EMR help-desk tickets, use the eCW support ticket system to research system issues, manage ePrescribe and EPCS licensing applications for provider onboarding, and take part in full eCW implementations and migrations from other EMR platforms. You will also be the person leadership asks when the question is "can eCW do this better?" — and you will have room to answer it.

• An experienced eCW Trainer — this is a prerequisite, not a preference
• Someone who can translate complex EMR workflows into plain, practical steps a brand-new hire can follow

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Deliver best-practice eClinicalWorks training to new hires, existing employees, and providers
• Run structured new-hire training sessions in the office each Monday and Tuesday
• Travel to clinic locations throughout Arizona to provide provider go-live and at-the-elbow support
• Train front office, back office, clinical, billing, and provider users on the eCW workflows that apply to their roles
• Deliver both in-person and remote training sessions using Microsoft Teams and other approved technology
• Provide continuing education and refresher training for existing eCW users
• Partner with the IT department to review, troubleshoot, and resolve EMR-related help-desk tickets
• Use the eClinicalWorks support ticket system to research and resolve system-related issues
• Manage eCW ePrescription and Electronic Prescribing of Controlled Substances (EPCS) licensing applications and provider onboarding
• Participate in full eClinicalWorks implementation projects, including migrations from other EMR platforms to eCW
• Provide hands-on support during system implementations, clinic transitions, and provider go-lives
• Evaluate and improve eCW workflows for providers, clinical staff, administrative teams, and clinic operations
• Identify opportunities to increase efficiency, system adoption, and the overall user experience
• Help collect, maintain, and distribute training checklists and supporting documentation
• Contribute to process-improvement initiatives that strengthen clinic operations and patient care
• Manage several training, implementation, and workflow projects at the same time, and support broader Training & Development work as needed

Required Qualifications:

• Previous professional experience as an eClinicalWorks (eCW) Trainer is required
• Strong hands-on experience using eClinicalWorks in a clinic or outpatient healthcare setting
• Solid understanding of EMR workflows across front office, back office, clinical, billing, and provider functions
• Experience using or supporting the eClinicalWorks support ticket system
• Strong working knowledge of outpatient practice workflows and EMR functionality
• Comfortable delivering hands-on, at-the-elbow training and go-live support in live clinics
• Strong presentation, teaching, and group facilitation skills
• Ability to train users with widely varying levels of technical and EMR experience
• Proficiency delivering remote training and technical support through Microsoft Teams
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational, troubleshooting, and problem-solving ability
• Ability to manage several projects and competing priorities at once
• Ability to work effectively with providers, clinical staff, operations, leadership, and IT teams
• Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout Arizona
• Full-time availability, Monday–Friday, based out of the Scottsdale office on training days

Preferred Background:

• eCW University and/or eCW Superuser training
• Experience serving as an eCW Superuser
• Background as an eCW Trainer, EMR Trainer, EHR Trainer, Clinical Applications Trainer, or EMR Implementation Specialist
• Experience supporting eCW implementations, migrations, upgrades, or provider go-lives
• Experience training physicians, advanced practice providers, MAs, front office teams, and other clinic staff
• Experience with ePrescribing and EPCS provider onboarding
• Previous experience inside a multi-site outpatient healthcare organization

• Have strong general EMR experience but have not worked specifically in eClinicalWorks — prior eCW Trainer experience is required
• Would rather build or configure systems than teach people how to use them
• Find repetition draining — new-hire fundamentals are taught again every training cycle
• Prefer a single, narrow scope of work over juggling training, go-lives, tickets, and workflow projects at once
